In the past few years we have had several cases dealing with edentulous patients with mandibular fractures. In patients with teeth, the reduction of the fracture can be done based on the occlusion; however, it is very difficult to restore the patient's previous occlusion in patients without teeth. There have been several methods to restore occlusion to edentulous patients which include Gunning's splint 1 Barber H.D. Bahram R. Woodburry S.C. et al. Mandibular fractures. in: Fonseca R.J. Walker R.V. Betts N.J. Oral & Maxillofacial Trauma. Vol 1. Elsevier Saunders, St Louis, MO2006: 504-506 Google Scholar and the application of an arch bar into the denture. We would like to introduce the skeletal anchorage system (SAS), which is a simple and relatively easy method to conduct compared with the 2 techniques mentioned above.
