Abstract

Application of piperonyl butoxide to adults and X-irradiation of Musca domestica L. pupae with 10,000 R caused similar and additive effects when flies were treated topically with malathion or malaoxon. Malathion toxicity was inhibited by piperonyl butoxide or X-irradiation of pupae, while malaoxon was synergized, The implication is that pupal X-irradiation and piperonyl butoxide have similar modes of action in combination with malathion or malaoxon.
