Abstract

To the Editor. —I rise to the bait tossed out by the Council on Scientific Affairs (CSA) in their report on silicone breast implants.1This august group suggests that I discuss the risks and benefits with the patient and then let her choose. The benefits are obviously in the mind of the patient; I cannot suggest any additional benefits. The risks are unknown, or at least very uncertain. Just what is it that I am supposed to discuss?
