Abstract

Introduction: Coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring is a helpful tool in the stratification of cardiovascular risk. Patients with a CAC score of 0 have a low risk of cardiovascular events and mortality in the long term. However, a CAC score of 0 does not rule out the presence of non-calcified atherosclerotic plaques. We sought to analyze the presence of significant coronary artery stenosis in a Mexican cohort with a CAC of 0.
