Abstract

The stress intensity factor (SIF) of a crack on the outside surface of a pressurized hollow cylinder is evaluated by Muskhelishvili formulation and the boundary collocation method. By comparing the figure obtained by Emery and Segedin [ J. bas. Engng 94, 387–393 (1972)] using a relaxation method it is shown that more reasonable results can be obtained.
