Abstract
The anti-sickling activities of testosterone and progesterone were investigated by administering these agents by injection to 6 patients, 2 with sickle cell anaemia and 4 with sickle cell trait. No change in the in vitro sickling phenomenon was demonstrated. The possible effect upon sickling of the sphering action of fatty substances is mentioned.
