Abstract

The knowledge of nuclear energy-levels in the atomic nucleus as a many-body system is necessary for understanding various reactions and nuclear structure. The calcium chain is an ideal test bench for the study of nuclear structure. Energy-levels are derived from the shell-model calculations for Ca isotopes. In this paper, the study on the fluctuation of energy-levels in Ca isotopes is carried out based on the quantum chaos theory. The shell structure of the isotopes is determined by statistical analysis of their energy levels. These analyses show that isotopes with strongly double shell closures that are called doubly magic isotopes show behavior close to the chaotic region.
