Abstract

Young breast cancer (BC) survivors are at increased risk for experiencing distressing treatment-related changes in body image and sexual function. However, these issues are not addressed for the majority of young survivors. This chapter overviews common problems around sexual function and body image and discusses how these issues are experienced within the developmental context of young adulthood. Awareness of sociocultural factors is emphasized, and concrete guidance on inquiry and intervention for young survivors is also offered.
