Abstract

Objective:To study the characteristics,diagnosis and treatment for sexual abnormalities in children.Methods:Thirty-seven children with sexual abnormalities were admitted from 1984 to 1995.They were assessed retrospectively by karotype,urinary 17-ketosteroids and 17-hydroxycorticosteroids,retrograde genitogram,laparoscopy and gonadal hiopsy.Results:They were classitied into four groups:female pseudohermaphroditism(17),male pseudohermaphroditism(13),mixed gonadal dysgenesis(2),true hermaphroditism(3),Klinefeher syndrome(1)and Turner syndrome(1).Conclusions:The authors recommend an early diagnostic modality and consider the sexual abnormalities should not be diagnosed only on the appearance of ambiguous genitalis or karyotype.An early diagnosis and treatment are very important to children with sexual abnormalities.
