Abstract

AbstractPaper compares the laboratory and filed tests results, obtained at the red gypsum sludge impoundment Za Travnik, permanently covered with water. Tests were carried out in order to predict the long term sludge settlements below the dry filter cake fill above it. A good prediction of settlements is important to prevent water pounding on final vegetation cover. Settlements were calculated based on field tests results and from laboratory oedometer tests with and without creep. Comparison of calculated and measured settlements show that secondary consolidation (creep) plays an important role in settlement forecast.
