Abstract

AbstractThe services sector can generate far-reaching benefits which can create productive jobs for the country’s large labour force and promote better inclusive growth. Extensive synergies between the services and industry sectors can lift productivity throughout the economy. These synergies are deep in modern, high value-added service industries. To realise the potential, skill development programmes are needed for skilling/up-skilling millions of Bangladesh’s workers. Start-up initiatives are key enablers for both manufacturing and services sectors in Bangladesh. The benefits of a digitalised economy can be quite diverse for the country’s services sector where businesses can tap into a massive market with modern services at little cost. The building up of a successful services sector will provide creative options for Bangladesh to use the services sector as another core component for growth.
