Abstract

As the third generation mobile system, FPLMTS is expected to provide more service capabilities than that of existing mobile systems, especially in personal telecommunications. The Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC) and its FPLMTS subcommittee has been studying Future Public Land Mobile Telecommunication Systems (FPLMTS). This paper first describes multiple user association concept of FPLMTS and its service capabilities. A FPLMTS terminal is capable of handling more than one communication channel on a radio link, or a number of simultaneous calls which are originated/received by users with their individual own identities. Then it describes proposed usage of user and/or terminal identities to achieve the concept above. An identity which is semi-permanently attached to a FPLMTS terminal is needed.
