Abstract

Serological properties of basic proteases produced by Beauveria bassiana, B. brongniartii, Paecilomyces fumosoroseus, and Metarhizium anisopliae were compared. In Ouchterlony tests, anti-B. bassiana F18 protease serum gave a single precipitin line against proteases from various strains of B. bassiana and two strains of B. brongniartii. These precipitin lines fused completely. No precipitin line was formed between anti-B. bassiana F18 protease serum and the protease from P. fumosoroseus or M. anisopliae in Ouchterlony tests. However, the proteases from B. bassiana, P. fumosoroseus, and M. anisopliae showed a high degrees of similarity in substrate specificity and they shared the common antigens when tested with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
