Abstract
SUMMARY An almost pure particulate spirochetal antigen was prepared for the macroplate-agglutination reaction. The antigen did not react with sera of apparently healthy birds, nor did it cross-agglutinate with immune sera against fowl pox and coccidiosis. The antigen was stable for three months at room temperature. Agglutinins first appeared in the sera on the 4th day of infection, reaching a peak titer of 1:156.4 on 11th day. This titer was maintained to the 27th day, and then declined rapidly to 1:17.8 by the 58th day. The fall in titer thereafter was slow, reaching 1:6.7 by the 152nd day.
