Summary form only given. One option for self alignment is to use ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCs) to form a high speed no moving part 2/spl times/2 fibre optic switch (FOS). Recently, we proposed a simple 2/spl times/2 FOS using FLCs. In this paper, we demonstrate the properties of this FOS.
