Abstract

In this paper we present a method for obtaining close-packed ordered mono- and bilayers of 250 and 300 nm latex microspheres on glass substrates. The ordered 2D structures that are obtained are used for the further self-assembling of silver nanoparticles (NPs) with an average diameter of 20 nm. Spectrophotometric and AFM analyses show that ordered monolayers of latex microspheres can be used as a template for the self-organization of silver NPs in the pore volume of an ordered structure.
