Abstract

Numerical values and characteristics of the self and mutual impedances obtained for the sub-elements considered in the analysis of some linear antennas are illustrated. Piecewise uniform basis function have been used to represent the filaments of current and charge in the conductors, and the separate contributions from these filaments to each term of the impedance matrix have been calculated. For the first time it is graphically shown that the locus of mutual impedances due to the charges in very different from the locus duo to the currents, and the dependence of the capacitive component of the self impedance of each sub-element- on the filaments of charge is also demonstrated. An example in connection with the expected symmetrical properties of the impedance matrix of three equally spaced, parallel conductors is also given, and it is shown bow the form of each mutual impedance term depends on the relative position of the two sub-elements involved.
