Abstract

We demonstrate enhancement of photon emission from a single InGaAs quantum dot (QD) embedded in a photonic crystal (PhC) nanocavity by using cavity resonant excitation. The cavity resonant excitation selects only a single QD whose δ‐function‐like density of state of the first excited state exactly coincides with the resonance of a PhC nanocavity, and largely enhances the light emission from the ground state of the QD. This highly efficient single dot selective excitation technique can be useful for investigations in PhC‐QD coupled systems and single photon devices.
