Abstract

We propose a new kind of Bessel beams, namely the segmented-phase high-order Bessel beams (SHBBs). Compared to the traditional high-order Bessel beams, the proposed beams have segmented helical phases instead of the integer topological-charge helical phases. As a result, the phase segments of the beams may carry orbital angular momenta of different topological charges. The simulation and experimental results show that the SHBBs also have the properties of non-diffraction and self-recovery. The proposed beams have potential applications in optical communication and optical manipulation.
