Abstract
Contrary to the prediction by many space physicists that the next solar maximum could be a record‐setter, a pair of researchers foresee a rather ordinary peak of solar activity. Running counter to statistical models and other estimates of the Sun's activity in 2000–2001. Kenneth Schatten of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and Sabatino Sofia of Yale University recently asserted that there will be an average number of sunspots and decreased magnetic activity on the Sun in the next decade.
