Abstract
A theory of sedimentation in a concentrated suspension of spherical soft particles (i.e., polyelectrolyte-coated particles) is developed to obtain general expressions for sedimentation velocity of soft particles and sedimentation potential in the suspension. An Onsager relation between sedimentation potential and electrophoretic mobility of spherical soft particles in concentrated suspensions is derived for the case of low potentials and nonoverlapping electrical double layers of adjacent particles.
