Abstract

Using the method of limiting trajectory, the deposition efficiency of a conducting charged fibrous aerosol under gravity from laminar flows in a horizontal cylindrical duct was obtained by solving simultaneously three equations for translation and two equations for rotation. It was shown that the electric charge on the fiber increased the deposition efficiency, but the increase was significant only when a threshold charge number was exceeded. Empirical expressions were derived for the threshold charge at different velocity profiles.
