Abstract
The traditional measures of securing the data may fail to cope with the adaptability, interoperability, and scalability of big data, cloud computing, and the contemporary technologies required. This paper comprehensively explores existing literature on big data and cloud computing to point out the security issues and solutions. Several relevant papers were collected, selected, and analyzed based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The paper identifies the challenges of data integrity, confidentiality and privacy, data availability, location of data, storage, backup or recovery of data, and data authentication. Moreover, some practical strategies of fine-grained access controls, network-based intrusion prevention systems, strong data encryption, and regular audits and compliance as solutions were identified.
