Abstract

This paper provides secure key extraction for IoT devices equipped with IEEE 802.15.4g/k transceiver. Exploiting the transceiver as a source of secure key generation, we construct a new type of run-time static random access memory (SRAM) physically unclonable function (PUF) without additional hardware. The SRAM PUF responses are further processed by convolutional error correction code and interleaver for secure key reproduction. Our experiments show that the secure key extraction using our transceiver based SRAM PUF achieves a good performance at low-complexity, which makes it widely applicable to various IoT devices with security requirements.
