Abstract

Surgical removal of tumors in the mandible may result in discontinuity ofbone which may require surgical reconstruction of the defect to provide asuitable tissue foundation for an acceptable prosthesis. Failure ofreconstructive surgery for some mandibulectomy patients often makeprosthetic rehabilitation extremely difficult. Due to financial constraintsan acrylic sectional partial denture was fabricated for a class VImandibular resection patient who had undergone anterior segmentalmandibulectomy with no surgical reconstruction. The case waschallenging and the prosthesis was well tolerated during a 6 monthsfollow-up review.(Afr. J. Biomed.
