Abstract
According to the new classification proposed by the World Health Organization, mammary analogue secretory carcinoma is designated as secretory carcinoma (SC). This tumor is a recently recognized malignancy of the salivary glands and shows striking resemblance to SC of the breast. A 44-year-old man presented with a painless, pedicled, nodular lesion on the anterior maxillary mucosa, measuring approximately 10 mm and a 1-year evolution. The provisional diagnosis was fibroma. A biopsy was performed; the histopathologic specimen showed proliferation of round to elliptical, large-sized neoplastic epithelial cells with eosinophilic cytoplasm and nuclei exhibiting slight pleomorphism and prominent central nucleoli organized in a lobular pattern containing pale mucoid secretion. Immunoreaction for vimentin, S100, CK7, and mammaglobin confirmed the diagnosis. The patient underwent surgery and is currently being followed-up with no apparent signs of recurrence.
