Abstract

Carbon dioxide partial pressures were measured at 2‐week intervals in a segment of cave passage isolated by a water trap from mixing with outside air. CO2 levels fluctuated from 0.03 to 0.4 vol % with maxima in the summer and minima in the winter. The CO2 measured directly in the atmosphere and the CO2 partial pressure calculated from the pH and alkalinity of the underground stream have similar seasonal profiles.
