Abstract A search for HC3NH+ toward TMC-1 was carried out based on the rotational transition frequencies predicted from the recent laboratory spectroscopic identification in the infrared. The 3 σupper limit for the column density was set at 4.6 × 1011 cm-2. This is about half that predicted by a recent model calculation by Herbst and Leung which employed large rate coefficients for ion-polar molecule reactions.
