Abstract

Data from the Nottingham muon detector at Haverah Park (1978–1983) has been analysed in a search for an excess of air showers from the direction of Cygnus X-3 at energies above 10 17eV. Air shower selection based on the deviation of the measured muon content relative to the expected mean is used as a possible means of enhancing a γ-ray primary flux. No significant excess is found in the d.c. or period analysed data.
