Abstract

Xenon gas was frozen by liquid aii and the scintillation pulse from the solid xenon due to Po210 alpha particles was measured with an electronic system consisting of a DuMont 6291 photomultiplier, a cathode follower, and an Iwasaki 30-Mc synchroscope. It was found that the scintilation spectrum of the solid xenon might be considered to be in the sensitive part of the photumultiplier. The decay time for the solid xenon was found to be less than 6 x 10-8 sec. (L.N.N.)
