Abstract

The research-practice gap is widely acknowledged and lamented in field of management and organization studies (MOS). One potential bridge to close the Gap is Evidence-Based Management (EBMgt). In this essay we propose an alternate route by reflecting on pluralism in theories, methods and levels in field of MOS. In this reflection, we take a positivistic and pragmatic stance in two respects: First, we see a huge chance for field in taking advantage of its plurality and employing it in teaching. We therefore propose to practice this plurality in teaching by multiple simplifications through application of various organizational theories. Teaching in this way would encourage learning aimed at complicated understanding and richness. Second, we argue that this way of teaching builds long-lasting academic and theoretical competences in students today so that they can make use of results of science and academia as practitioners in future.
