Abstract

We study the scheme dependence of the two-loop expression for the \ensuremath{\rho} parameter of the standard model in the heavy t-quark mass limit ${\mathit{m}}_{\mathit{t}}$\ensuremath{\gg}${\mathit{m}}_{\mathit{W}}$. In the MS scheme the two-loop electroweak correction to the O(${\mathit{m}}_{\mathit{t}}^{2}$) term in \ensuremath{\Delta}\ensuremath{\rho} is found to be greater than the QCD ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\alpha}}}_{\mathit{s}}$ correction.
