Abstract

Effect of the reconfigurable frequency selective surface (FSS) with capacitive MEMS-switches on characteristics of a scanning and scattering of antenna array (AA) consisting of the open ends of X-band rectangular is investigated. It is shown that in a case of MEMS switching on, the FSS transmits radiation field of AA within sector of scan angles up to 45°. In MEMS “off” state, the FSS shields a radiation field of AA; the upper bound of the frequency range, with increasing of angle of scanning, shifted towards lower frequencies. In “on” state of MEMS the FSS lowers a radar cross section (RCS) of phased array at least in the area of a specular lobe by 10–15 dB up to angles of incidence 45°.
