Abstract

We investigate a supersymmetric model with SU(2) gauge interaction and global U(6) invariance which has recently been proposed as a toy model for composite quarks, leptons and intermediate vector bosons. The vacuum structure of the model is strongly restricted. We evaluate the dominant contributions of scalar condensates to the two-point functions of the U(6) currents and study the corresponding SVZ sum rules for the physical spectrum of the theory. Our results suggest that the U(6) symmetry is spontaneously broken to SU(2) × U(4). The simplest ansatz for the physical spectrum which is compatible with the sum rules contains only the states present in the complementary (Higgs) picture. Implications of our results for preon models with composite W-bosons are briefly discussed.
