Abstract

AbstractThe isobaric data of Johnson and Further for the systems methanol‐water, ethanol‐water, and 1‐propanol water, each saturated with a variety of common inorganic salts, can be effectively correlated by means of the van Laar, the Wilson, or the Renon equations if pseudo‐activity coefficients for the volatile components are computed using a modified reference fugacity for the liquid phase. This reference fugacity takes into account the lowring of the vapor pressure due to the dissolved salt. Furthermore, the activity coefficients are normalized as required by the above equations.
