Abstract

Work accidents cause various losses for many parties. Therefore, in-depth research is needed to maintain the safety of all workers. Recognizing the factors that cause work accidents helps companies take preventive actions. This study aims to obtain the relationship between the Big Five personality variables, personal values, safety culture and safety behavior. The relationship between these variables is more visible and valid when the data is analyzed numerically and quantitatively. This research method uses structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis techniques. This research is explanatory, using a quantitative approach. The purposive sampling method was used. The number of samples is 300 construction workers, consisting of supervisors, foremen, and maintenance technicians. The results show that the Big Five Personality has a positive and significant effect on work safety behavior. In addition, personal values as an in-depth variable and safety culture can mediate the impact of the five main personal values on safety behavior. The work safety of construction workers is influenced by the Big Five Personality, which focuses on individual behavior, personal values and works culture. The big five personalities and personal values play a significant role in the construction work safety model.
