Abstract

Carbon Capture Technology can contribute to Carbon Dioxide reduction and stable supply of Electric Power in the near future. This paper describes Carbon Capture Technology for Thermal Power Systems. Toshiba has adopted Post Combustion Capture (PCC) System that captures Carbon Dioxide from boiler flue gas. In September 2009, Toshiba completed the construction and commenced operation of PCC Pilot Plant at Mikawa Thermal Power Station, at Sigma Power Ariake in Ohmuta city, Fukuoka Japan. Toshiba is conducting test for research and development of Carbon Capture Technology at this Pilot Plant toward Commercial plant design. Progress and results of our research and development to date are introduced in this paper.
