Abstract

The analysis of the state and main trends in the use of the Russian language in Russia and the CIS and non-CIS countries is carried out. It is shown that the Russian language has a great cognitive potential, which can and should be used more effectively in the context of a new scientific and technological revolution and the formation of a knowledge society. The modern threats to the Russian language in the post-Soviet space, in the non-CIS countries and in Russia are consistently considered. Their causes and possible consequences are shown. The list of priority tasks that must be solved in Russia and in the CIS and non-CIS countries for the preservation of the Russian language as the most important factor of Russian culture and the intellectual potential of the individual is presented.
