Abstract

Roosendaal et al.1 report the outcomes of octogenarians after ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (rAAA) repair over a five year period in four hospitals in the Netherlands. The main findings were a 12 month survival rate of 50%, with >80% of patients returning home at one year. Interestingly, when comparing open aneurysm repair (OAR) versus endovascular repair (EVAR) in rAAA there was no statistically significant difference in mortality at 30 days and one year.
