Abstract

The quantum mechanical bending-rotational states of the CO2HF complex are determined within a rotating hinge model. An optimized two term form of bending potential function yields good agreement with the spectroscopic parameters for five observed bending states. Transformation to an angle-action picture demonstrates a close similarity between the quantum mechanical wavefunctions and the classical trajectory plots, both of which show evidence of librational and precessional modes of motion.
