Abstract
V-doped TiO 2 thin films were grown by pulsed laser deposition technique on LaAlO 3 substrates. In the chosen range of the growth conditions, all V-doped TiO 2 films have an anatase structure and exhibit ferromagnetic behaviors at room temperature. V-doped TiO 2 films have a much larger magnetic moment than Co/Fe/Ni-doped TiO 2 films. This study has shown that the substitution of V for Ti in TiO 2 could result in a potential diluted magnetic semiconductor. Magnetic force microscopy measurements implied that the room temperature ferromagnetism does not come from V clusters but from V-doped TiO 2 matrix.
