Abstract
1. The role of the renal portal valve in the shunting of blood from the renal portal to hepatic portal circulation was tested by infusion of cholinergic and adrenergic agents in vivo in amounts known to close and open the valve in vitro (isolated). 2. The valve could not be closed in vivo by cholinergic agents.
