Abstract
In the article, the first time in the history of the study of the modern history of the Donbas discusses the role, forms and methods of activity of local institutions to organize aid front, organizing fundraisers, support for refugees and children. Bahmut county district council organized the sewing of clothes, shoes, underwear soldiers collecting food parcels, attracted to this rural community of students and intellectuals. One of the forms of charity became diverse festivals, concerts and performances. Takes care of the injured, disabled, orphans, develop measures of employment and social protection. The war caused among zemtsy revival of the Ukrainian national idea in the form of the creation of rural «hut-chitalen»- reading rooms of the Company Prosvita.
