Abstract

In this paper, robust sliding mode control (SMC) is designed for three time scale system using linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. First of all, the original three time scale system is transformed into lower block triangular form and then by assuming fast 1 and fast 2 subsystems as stable, robust SMC design is carried out using slow subsystem alone. Controller, thus, obtained is expressed in terms of original states by similarity transformation and applied to the full-order system. Performance of the designed control is evaluated by simulating a nonlinear system. The simulation results, obtained with the proposed controller, show the acceptable performance when compared with other controllers.
