Abstract

We outline a new approach to the design of robust low order compensators for high order systems. Our approach is formulated in the state space and is based on associating a structured perturbation problem with the compensator design. Analysis of this structured perturbation problem via stability radii (Hinrichsen and Pretchard [5], Hinrichsen et al. [4] and Pritchard and Townley [6]) results in criteria for our compensator design.
