Risks of Social Networks for Minors: An Exploratory, Descriptive and Mixed-Methodology Study
Social networks have revolutionized the way people communicate. They have been a source of opportunities, but also risks. The minors are a group of consumers of this type of network, which, due to their characteristics of not having completed their maturity, are a group to which dangerous situations can especially affect. The problems that affect minors in their use of social networks can affect them as victims, but also as offenders, leading them to commit actions of doubtful morality or even legality. This study, of an exploratory, descriptive nature and a mixed methodology, tries to understand if minors are breaking the law in their internet usage habits, or if, on the contrary, the consequences of their actions on social networks are not known. The knowledge of this information can be of interest in the processes of formation of the teachers of primary and secondary education, so much the initial one, in the university world, like continuous.

This study arises from the need to investigate the population's knowledge and information about Senior Cohousing, as an alternative to traditional residential centers. This new model allows the elderly to manage their own old age, share needs and have an active aging, offering a real alternative to maintaining their autonomous life while keeping quality of life and social contact. Method: a mixed methodology study has been designed, through a questionnaire to the general population and in-depth interviews with residents of Cohousings, in which a total of 261 subjects participated. Results: in general, the population shows a high lack of knowledge about Cohousing (61% of the participants), even though the need for a change in the residential models as we know them today is evident. Discussion: People who do not know about Cohousing show a great interest in this model as they consider it very beneficial. Regarding the negative points, they can be remedied with help from public administrations and with a professional of reference, who mobilizes and coordinates, such as a social worker. Conclusions: Cohousing is a model of coexistence that allows people to continue with their personal development, maintaining their quality of life and promoting active aging, without seeing their life altered abruptly by institutionalization in a residence. The success of Cohousing in Spain will depend largely on governmental support.

This was an exploratory study aimed at defining more sharply the pedagogical and practical challenges entailed in designing and creating computer-based game-type simulations for learning Arabic as a foreign language. Because of the current state of affairs, this study focused on the special needs and interests of an American military audience and the unique linguistic challenges for young adult Americans learning Arabic. This mixed methodology study used expert opinion and observations, interviews, and document analysis with two research populations, US Air Force Academy cadets who attended an intensive summer immersion program and US Army soldiers who field tested a developmental prototype of a video game-based program for learning Arabic. The findings identified (a) the pedagogical features found in existing computer-based games for Arabic and how those features compared with the pedagogical features considered critical to success by experts and actual learners, and (b) the engagement and realism features that are required in computer-based simulations for learning Arabic as a foreign language. The study concludes that computer-based simulations are a promising possibility for this purpose. Improvements are needed in voice-recognition technology, in providing tailored feedback on linguistic and pronunciation errors, in allowing for learner differences, and in selecting the highest priority linguistic content and to incorporate that language into a scenario that is appealing to the military audience.

The objective of this exploratory, transversal, and descriptive study was to identify the vaccination situation of Nursing students and their adhesion the Adult Immunization Program, defined by the Ministry of Health. The population of the study was 278 adults, distributed within the undergraduate and graduate Nursing schools. Analysis of their Vaccination Cards was in order to collect the data, followed by a classification of their vaccination situation into three categories: Immunized, Incomplete or Belated Scheme, and Non-Vaccinated. Of the total, 15.5% were classified as immunized; 51.8% fit into the incomplete or belated classification; and 32.7% were non-vaccinated students. The results demonstrate that the vaccination situation of nursing students is characterized by incomplete schemes and low adhesion to the National Immunization Program. The authors suggest that this theme is given greater relevance during the academic education of nurses, via partnerships with health services and municipal Immunization Divisions.

to analyze midwives' employment situation of midwives and detect their workload measurement needs. a mixed methodology (quantitative and qualitative), observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. Two phases were carried out. The first methodological phase consisted of conducting semi-structured individual interviews. The second methodological phase analyzed the Nursing Intervention Classification (NIC) interventions that midwives perform in the labor room during daily practice. 90.3% of midwives have work overload, since for 80.6% the midwife-pregnant mother ratio is not well established, since the mean execution time of a Nursing Intervention Classification (NIC) intervention is 20 minutes. For this reason, 100% of the sample considers the development of workload measurement tools to be highly useful. the need to generate an instrument that considers the diversity of Nursing Intervention Classification (NIC) interventions that develop within the labor room is ratified.

This study belongs to the pattern of analytical descriptive studies as the most appropriate types of studies suitable to the nature of the subject of the study, which aims to describe and analyze the impact of social networks on the mechanisms of interdependence and disintegration among young people, and then we can get facts through the information and interpretation and then extract and achieve the most benefit, The study is one of the descriptive studies that measure the relationship between two independent variable variables. The social networks and the dependent variable are the mechanisms of interconnection and disintegration among the Kuwaiti youth. They are the most appropriate types of studies to achieve the objectives of the current study. The study used the questionnaire, which included, in addition to the initial data, 14 questions that tried to reach the mechanisms of compatibility between young users of the social networks, society, family and comrades, in order to collect data in terms of the theory of ecological pattern, cognitive theory and behavioral theory. The sample size of the study was (120) individuals of university youth, which uses social networks. The main results of the study were to confirm the existence of a negative relation with statistical significance (1. 15 = α) between the periods of time spent by young people in the use of social networks and the level of mechanisms of self-discrepancy where the value of (1 - 236), and a statistical significance 0.05 This indicates that the smaller the number of hours spent on social networks, The results of the study showed that there were no statistically significant differences (0.05 = α) due to the type of social networks used in young people. The value of Ka 2 (0.845) and statistical significance (0.130) , And the results of the study showed that there are statistically significant differences in The results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences (0.05) between males and females in the family compatibility mechanisms of young people used for social networks. The results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences (0.05) between males and females in the social compatibility of young people for social networks for females. The results of the study also showed that there are significant differences (0.05) between males and females in the social compatibility mechanisms of young people used for social networks for the benefit of females. The study relied on two types of honesty: Apparent honesty: The researcher in the framework of the observance of the apparent honesty presented the questionnaire form to a number of professors arbitrators in order to evaluate and clarify the vision in the achievement of the tool for the purposes of research, the researcher benefited from the observations of arbitrators who have read the questionnaire, survey of 20 subjects to ascertain the appropriateness of the questions, the modification of the questions that are not understood by the respondents and the legalization of the open questions. A number of questions were added by the arbitrators, which are intrinsically related to the subject. Stability: It is the stability of the responses in the case of repeated application of the tool in the sense of non-change in essence, and the same questionnaire was carried out on the vocabulary of the survey conducted ten days after the exploratory study was calculated correlation coefficient between the responses in the tribal application and the 80, 0. The study recommended that more awareness of the importance of social networks should be made through meetings and conferences. The study recommended that the various educational curricula should contain parts of them to speak about the importance of social networks and warning against their dangers. It also recommended that the Ministries of Awqaf and Da'wa should be invited to the Arab countries in order to oblige the preachers to address people (the soft and beautiful) about the most important social misuse of social networks, and the need to enact laws and legislations that criminalize the bad use of social networks . The need to address the media colleges and research centers spread throughout the Arab world about the need to encourage researchers and postgraduate students to conduct further research and studies on various social networks and their various impacts on the individual and society. To encourage young people to devise Arab social networking networks, primarily aimed at serving Arab youth, with high financial rewards; to encourage young people to innovate.

PurposeThe overall aim of the research is to provide an assessment of the level of the reported success of foresight project results of a multinational company in Turkey.Design/methodology/approachThe model of assessment is based on an integrated framework characterized by approaching foresight as a project and associating it by the redefined pitfalls in, and success factors of, corporate foresight projects in order to facilitate better conversion of their results into actual changes in corporations. A multinational company in Turkey (Siemens Turkey) is chosen for the exploratory case study. The exploratory assessment model was designed via the use of a survey questionnaire, a case study, and interviews of managers (who were involved in the corporate foresight project).FindingsResults of the individual assessment of corporate foresight project at the company were labeled as “successful”. There needs to be given an overall attention to the process‐oriented elements of the foresight project. Pitfalls in the foundation phase accumulated the highest problem area, suggesting that the total project would eventually suffer.Research limitations/implicationsOne of the limitations of the study is the use of a single case with an attempt to assess the pitfalls of the foresight projects. The exploratory study may include premature conclusions about the assessment of corporate foresight project results, yet a single case can imply generalizable insights. The authors believe this research suggests some potentially significant insights for foresight studies and their applications.Practical implicationsThe study may help to support the reliability of the foresight studies as they have been implemented and might bring a new methodological challenge on the quality and success of the corporate foresight project results.Social implicationsThe approach described the factors affecting the success of corporate foresight activities with respect to understanding the pitfalls of foresight projects. Taking reference to such a framework, foresight results may be better delivered and disseminated in corporations with concrete results and actual changes in organizations. The model of assessment may be used to analyze the level of the reported success of foresight project results in companies implementing foresight activities.Originality/valueAlthough foresight studies within businesses has become more important and widespread with its systematic and continuous/participatory approach, based on a variety of methods, it is still a partially explored area in terms of research with mainly descriptive studies.

PurposeThe purpose of this exploratory and descriptive study is to contribute to the sparse return-to-work literature on head and neck cancer (HNC) survivors. Interview participants were asked to reflect upon their work-related experience with cancer by answering two specific questions: (1) What advice would you give someone who has been newly diagnosed with head and neck cancer? (2) What advice would you give to employers of these people?MethodsData were gathered through 10 individual semi-structured in-depth interviews with HNC clinic patients at a regional cancer center’s head and neck clinic in Ontario, Canada. A constant comparative method of theme development was used. Codes identified in and derived from the data were discussed by research team members until consensus was reached. Codes with similar characteristics were grouped together and used to develop overarching themes.ResultsWork-related advice for peers focused on personal self-care and interactions within workplaces. Work-related advice to employers focused on demonstrating basic human values as well as the importance of communication.DiscussionThe study results suggest HNC clinic patients should be proactive with employers and help to set reasonable expectations and provide a realistic plan for work to be successfully completed. HNC clinic patients should develop communication skills to effectively disclose their cancer and treatment to employers.ConclusionsIn this exploratory study, HNC clinic patients’ advice was solution-focused underscoring the importance of self-care and pro-active communication and planning with employers. Employers were advised to demonstrate core human values throughout all phases of the work disability episode beginning at diagnosis.

To examine the baseline acoustic environment in several mid-Atlantic region neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and investigate the perceived factors contributing to noise levels in these NICUs. Quantitative data were collected from 3 urban, mid-Atlantic level IIIB and level IIIC NICUs. Qualitative data were collected via interview from 2 RNs employed in each of the study NICUs. This was an exploratory descriptive study utilizing a mixed-methods approach. A quantitative method was used for sound-level data collection, and a qualitative method was utilized during interviews with nurses to examine perceptions of factors contributing to noise. Ambient sound levels, measured in decibels, were taken at 5-minute intervals over a 2-hour period during both day and night shifts in a central location at each NICU. In addition, nurses were interviewed using a standardized interview questionnaire, and these interviews were then reviewed to determine themes regarding perceived factors contributing to sound levels. Hourly mean sound levels in each NICU ranged from 53.9 dB to 60.6 dB, with no statistically significant difference between noise levels recorded on day shift versus night shift, and no statistically significant difference among sites. Qualitative data showed that nurses' believed day shift to be louder than night shift and many perceived their own NICU as "pretty quiet." Key contributing factors to increased sound levels were stated as monitors or alarms, performing invasive procedures, presence of family, nurses or doctors giving report or rounds, and ringing phones. Noise levels were found to be above the American Academy of Pediatrics--recommended 45-dB level and often louder than the 50-dB level, which should not be exceeded more than 10% of the time. The recommended impulse maximum of 65 dB was also exceeded. Environmental Protection Agency recommendations for hospitals include sound levels no louder than 35 dB on night shift; this standard was also violated. Elevated sound levels need to be addressed in individual NICUs around the country. Further exploratory studies, as well as research regarding effective methods of decreasing sound levels in the NICU environment, are necessary. NICUs can implement behavioral and structural changes that can decrease the sound levels in the NICU environment and decrease the potential for exposure of patients to the harmful physiological effects of increased sound levels.
