Abstract

The aims of this study are to identify risk factors affecting information system (IS) projects in public organizations in Poland and find contextual interactions among these factors. This study is based on a critical review of literature, practical collaboration, case studies, logical deduction, and experts’ judgments. In order to explore relationships between identified factors, Interpretive Structural Modeling methodology was used. The study results show eleven risk factors affecting IS projects in public organizations, namely (1) Top management support, (2) Manage processes in organization, (3) Involve IS end-users, (4) Manage information system development process, (5) Make system requirement analysis, (6) Manage project plan, (7) Manage, monitor and evaluate project, (8) Manage project team, (9) Manage team experience, (10) Manage team communication and (11) Manage public sector procedures and processes. Based on the relationships between them, the linkage, dependent and independent factors are identified.
