Risk factors of cerebral infarction in elderly patients undergoing hip replacement

Abstract

Objective To investigate the risk factors associated with cerebral infarction in elderly patients undergoing hip replacement. Methods A total of 247 elderly patients who underwent hip replacement in Luoyang Central Hospital Affiliated to Zhengzhou University from March 2016 to March 2019 were selected, including 20 patients with cerebral infarction (infarction group) and 227 patients without cerebral infarction (non infarction group). The clinical data of the two groups were compared, and the risk factors of cerebral infarction were analyzed by logistic analysis. Results The general data of the two groups showed significant differences in age, body mass index (BMI), history of cerebral infarction, history of diabetes, history of hypertension and disease type (P 0.05). The perioperative anticoagulation, anesthesia methods, intraoperative hypotension, and American Society of Nesthesiologists (ASA) grades had significant difference between groups (P 69 years), history of cerebral infarction, diabetes, BMI (>24 kg/m2), history of hypertension, intraoperative hypotension, ASA grade (≥3), general anesthesia were independent risk factors associated with cerebral infarction (P<0.05). Conclusions Age (>69 years), history of cerebral infarction, diabetes, BMI (>24 kg/m2), history of hypertension, intraoperative hypotension, ASA grade (≥3), general anesthesia are independent risk factors associated with cerebral infarction in elderly patients undergoing hip replacement.
