Abstract

Carbonylation of (2-pyridylmethylene)cyclobutanes in the presence of Rh(I) catalysts resulted in cleavage of cyclobutane C–C bonds to afford five-membered ring ketones and could be performed using paraformaldehyde as the CO source.
