Abstract

This paper addresses the problem of camera tracking in virtual studio environment. The traditional camera tracking methods are vision-based or sensor-based. However, the Chroma Keying process in virtual studio limits the application of vision-based tracking methods in virtual studio since the background could not provide enough feature information. Therefore, in our research, we would try to apply Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology into the virtual studio environment. In this paper, we firstly advocate distribution schemes where passive RFID tags are delayed in vast quantities and in a highly redundant fashion over virtual studio area. Based on this RFID Tag Infrastructures, then We propose an effective localization algorithm for 2D camera tracking in virtual studio. The simulation results would be compared and analysis. Finally, we outline some applications and indicate future directions of research. (8 pages)
